Pastor Ted Wilson always talked about the three angels’ messages in his weekly videos. Why not? For a world in crisis, words of hope and love are urgently needed.
In fact, Ellen White has a reminder of this in her book, Testimonies for the Church, vol. 9, p. 19.
She says, “In a special sense, Seventh-day Adventists have been placed in the world as keepers and bearers of light. To them was entrusted the last warning for a perishing world. On them shines a marvelous light from the word of God. . They have been given a most solemn work—the proclamation of the first, second, and third angels’ messages. There is no other work of such great importance. They must not allow anything else to absorb their attention. solemn truths never committed to mortals have been given to us to proclaim to the world. The proclamation of these truths must be our work.
It is true that the three angels’ messages have been part of our preaching for a long time. Yet, what do we know about them? Can we explain them to other people?
To help us do that, in this episode, Pastor Ted and his wife, Nancy, talk about the importance of prayer and fasting in witnessing.
Prayer helps us better understand Bible truth, grow in faith amid life’s challenges, and gain the power of the Holy Spirit to become effective witnesses.
But why does it include fasting? We fast because we are serious for God’s blessing. It’s not an option. Instead, it is a response given to our love for Him.
With this we are advised by the Advice on diet and food, pp. 188, 189: “Now and until the end of time the people of God should be more earnest, more awake, trusting not in their own wisdom, but in the wisdom of their leader. They must set aside days for fasting and prayer Total abstinence from food may not be necessary, but they should eat the simplest foods sparingly.
In the meantime, it’s important to remember that fasting isn’t just about skipping meals. Rather, it is about choosing to sacrifice something to pray more intentionally with heart and soul. But it’s not about winning a heavenly reward. Instead, the goal is to eliminate distractions so we can wholeheartedly seek Jesus.
With this, Pastor Ted invites you to be part of this special day of prayer and fasting. As Matthew 18:19-20 says, “I tell you again that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that you ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst.”
Now is the time to share God’s final messages of hope and salvation. There’s no time to lose. Therefore, do not miss the blessings God has in store for you as we gather together in fasting and prayer.
