Ukrainian developer asks fans to send shell messages to Russian soldiers

A Ukrainian developer has opened a Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming game where fans can write messages about shells to be fired at the invading Russian forces.

Frogs created countryside to help them finance their next title Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. The game is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One. It is described as an “unnerving Lovecraftian adventure set in the heart of the Cthulhu mythos”. The developers create the game in Ukraine against the background of war.

At the time of this writing, the campaign has 23 hours left and the project has already surpassed its target of £60,379. The game has raised £204,779 in donations so far. To extend the campaign, Frogwares announced on Twitter that three “winners” could have a message of their choice written on a 152 mm howitzer shell.

The tweet read: “To assist you, our friends at the 24th Separate Assault Battalion will write a personalized message of your choice on the 152mm howitzer. Just [like] and [retweet] this tweet and we’ll pick 3 winners at random. The 24th Separate Assault Battalion is made up of a “group of studio fans” currently serving in the war.

As transcribed by VGC, a Ukrainian soldier said, “If you want your personalized message written on an artillery shell and help our friends at Frogwares at the same time, please get involved. We can’t wait to send them, special delivery, to our unwanted guests. The campaign officially ends tomorrow.
