Capitol Ministries, a Washington D.C.-based ministry seeking to “make disciples of Jesus Christ in the political arena around the world” seeks to help members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet and other politicians in the Nation’s Capital become more mature Christians through weekly Bible studies.

“Since our founding in 1996, our vision has not changed: to evangelize the elect and lead them to maturity in Christ. We stay away from politics and focus on the hearts of leaders,” notes the ministry. run by former college basketball star Ralph Drollinger on his website.

The Christian Post invited Drollinger to be interviewed for this report, but he declined to comment at this time and pointed to the ministry’s website for more information.

The ministry explains that Drollinger teaches his Bible study in the House of Representatives “every session week immediately after the conclusion of the ‘first returning votes’.” He also teaches Senators Bible Study on Tuesday mornings in a rotation of Senate offices.

“CM believes that nothing can replace this basic discipline in ministry. Transformation and discipleship comes from ‘renewing the spirit’ (Romans 12:1-2),” the group states.

According to a report by Fusion, on the morning of April 5, Energy Secretary Rick Perry attended an hour-long “cabinet members Bible study” at the Department of Health and Human Services, but his schedule did not reflect which other cabinet members were on it. of the study.

Drollinger reportedly praised the new administration for its power to “change the course of America in a biblical way.”

The report further noted that for an outside group to hold an event in a congressional building, it must be sponsored by a senator or representative. Dozens of members of Congress have sponsored Drollinger’s group for the Bible study for members of Congress that the ministry’s website shows.

Meanwhile, Vice President Mike Pence, HUD Secretary Ben Carson, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, CIA Director Mike Pompeo, Agriculture Secretary nominee Sonny Perdue, HHS Secretary Tom Price, and Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt all sponsored the new Capitol Cabinet of Ministries Bible study, notes Merger.

Many members of Trump’s new cabinet were apparently biblical studies students from Capitol ministries prior to their appointment, and Drollinger’s ministry celebrated the association on its website.

“President-elect Donald Trump’s appointments of strong, godly men to key national leadership positions hammer home a biblical principle that propels the mission of Capitol Ministries: This prayer alone will not heal our earth.

“President-elect Trump nominated U.S. Representative Mike Pompeo as director of the CIA, offered U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions the position of U.S. Attorney General, and chose Mike Pence as vice president-elect. All three men are sponsors longtime member of the Bible Studies that Ralph Drollinger, president of Capitol Ministries, teaches members of the United States Congress on the Hill in Washington, DC,” the ministry noted.

Drollinger noted on his website that the New Testament formula for restoring a nation is very different from the Old Testament approach of simply praying in humility.

“It follows, then, that the sudden rise of Pence, Sessions, and Pompeo—all men who are disciples of Jesus Christ—serves to vividly illustrate the truth of 1 Timothy 2:1-4!” he said.

“Suddenly these men who have been disciples of the Church are in positions of significant authority to change the course of America in a biblical way. If they were not mature in Christ, it is unlikely let that happen,” he explained.

Drollinger explained that godly leaders result in a godly nation, but theological liberalism began reshaping American culture about 120 years ago by infiltrating mainstream churches and seminaries. He said the gospel of Jesus Christ was replaced by the social gospel which watered down the main tenets of the Church.

“We have lost our engine of discipleship among political leaders and have made no compelling doctrinal effort of national proportions to make disciples except in the last 20 years with Capitol Ministries,” Drollinger said.

“We haven’t had our best men on the campuses of political leaders for the past 100 years like we did when America was founded, as a result we reap what we no longer sow .

“Pence, Sessions and Pompeo serve to illustrate that things are changing! It’s a very exciting day!” He continued. “Evangelicals are betting America’s entire future on humble prayer, but in the New Testament praying humbly is best understood as evangelizing and disciplining political leaders, beginning with prayer. I don’t think the Church understand that.”

Asked by Fusion about the Cabinet Bible study in particular, Drollinger noted, “I would prefer this to remain a private Bible study with members. Thanks for asking.”
