Thiago Alcantara showed his class in a superb performance against Manchester City

The Spaniard joined Jürgen On Klopp’s side of bavaria Munich in the summer of 2020 in a deal worth up to £25m. The expectations on Thiago were high as he was tagged as the man to finally help Liverpool unlock teams that defend deep.

His debut season proved disappointing as he struggled to adapt to the pace of the Premier League. He was also hampered by a knee injury after a horror tackle from Richarlison during his first Merseyside derby preview in October 2020.

At 21/22 season, he has really shown what he is capable of by establishing himself as a regular starter in Klopp’s team.

31-Age won his first trophies as a Liverpool player last season, winning the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, he was to start the Carabao Cup final but injured in warm-up. In the FA Cup final he scored his penalty with a brilliant ‘paneka‘.

Liverpool will now kick off their Premier League campaign on August 6 when they travel to Craven Cottage to take on the newly promoted side, Fulham. After losing the title by one point last season, Thiago and his teammates will look to do better and snatch the title from City.
