May 16, 2022
To the Pleroma of the Orthodox Christian Church in the United States
Beloved in the Risen Christ:
Christ is risen! Truly he is risen!
It is with great sadness that we learned today of the death of the first hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church outside Russia, the unforgettable Metropolitan Hilarion (Kapral).
Metropolitan Hilarion was a good, humble, and capable servant of his flock, respected and loved by all who knew him.
On behalf of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America, we pray for the eternal rest and eternal memory of Metropolitan Hilarion, and we express our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters in ROCOR at this time of grief. . In these moments of loss, we understand that what unites us in the risen Christ is greater and stronger than anything in the world.
May his memory be eternal. Christ is risen!
With consolation in our risen Lord,
Archbishop of America
