Dr. Jack Hetzel’s ‘Colossians: Verse by Verse’ to premiere at LA Times Festival of Books 2022

“Colossians: Verse by Verse” by Dr. Jack Hetzel will be on display at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on April 23-24, 2022, on the campus of the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA.

This book has three distinguishing features. It is above all a novel born from the personal experience of the author; he not only teaches theory but also what he has proven and achieved in his own life. Second, the subject of this book takes place at a crucial moment in the history of the Church. While many have begun to drift away from the daily work of the Holy Spirit in their lives and churches, Dr. Hetzel argued that people serve a God who never changes. Finally, unlike many other publications, Dr. Hetzel explains what scripture says about how the gifts work in each of their functions as they relate to particular believers.

By writing a short chapter on each of the important topics covered by the Apostle Paul in the book of Colossians, Dr. Hetzel hoped to provide a better understanding of each. When Paul used a certain word, Dr. Hetzel would write a chapter about it. Not that he thinks he’s smarter than the reader. Yet perhaps he puts his knowledge of the Bible, which he regards as the word of God after sixty-eight years in the ministry, and that the only path to true faith is to believe what is written and help people see themselves as God sees them. In this book, the author answers when, where, and how the Holy Spirit can influence people’s lives today.
