Aaron Judge hits record season with Bible verse in hand

The popular baseball player shares how central God has been in his family and athletic life.

Standing at 6’7″. Aaron Judge is a man of great stature but of even greater faith.

The much-admired New York Yankees slugger has wowed baseball fans with his incredible performances this season, with a home run record hopefully broken around the corner.

However, the 30-year-old, who has been with the Yankees since 2013, attributes his success to his parents: “My parents are amazing, they taught me so many lessons. Honestly, I can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done for me.”

Wayne and Patty from California adopted Judge at birth, along with his older biological brother. As the Daily Citizen reports, it was a perfect match: “I feel like they kind of chose me. I feel that it is God who brought us together.

His parents wouldn’t tell him he was adopted, but at age 10 Judge began to question things: “I knew I didn’t look like them. So I started asking questions and they told me I was adopted and answered all my questions, and that was it. I was fine with that. It really didn’t bother me because they were the only parents I knew.

And while the outfielder isn’t shy about sharing how blessed he is to have such loving and supportive parents, his mom isn’t shy about sharing, “We’re more blessed than him.”

As baseball fans tune in to see Judge achieve his record-breaking feat, the loving son will lean on his family and his faith, and especially his favorite Bible verse from 2 Corinthians 5:7:

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

“It’s one of my favorite Bible verses,” says Judge. “[I] try to live my life by it, and always trust the Man above and what He has in store for us. We never know what awaits us, but if we have faith in him, he will lead us in the right direction.
